What's different this year?
Following the most current guidelines from government and health officials for Social Distancing, we are expanding AIDS Walk Delaware to a Weeklong Challenge
We want people to feel comfortable participating when they want, how they want, with whom they want. There will be no formal in person gathering.
You can follow one of the two official routes: In Wilmington along Brandywine Park or in Rehoboth Beach, from Grove Park to the ocean and back.
Or walk wherever you feel most comfortable - in another park, in your neighborhood or on your treadmill at home.
Why Walk? Why Donate and get Sponsors?
AIDS Walk Delaware is the state’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraising and awareness event. Each year the Walk provides nearly $80,000 for case management services, HIV-specific mental health counseling, free HIV testing, education/prevention programs for youth and young adults, housing services, and more.
This year’s walk is critical for the benefiting organizations as they have been financially impacted by COVID-19, having been forced to cancel other fundraising events. The services they provide to the community are essential and continuing to fulfill the needs of clients, who are most vulnerable in this pandemic, is crucial.

Why we incorporated the Rainbow into our T-shirt:
The rainbow has represented many inspirational and empowering ideals. The Muppet's song The Rainbow Connection is a message about being yourself and following your dreams. The Rainbow Coalition, led by Jesse Jackson welcomed voters from a broad spectrum of races and religious groups. It helped facilitate social programs, and gave voice to groups who needed to be heard. The LGBT gay-rights Rainbow Flag symbolizes diversity and acceptance, representing life (red), healing (orange), sunlight (yellow), nature (green), harmony/peace (blue), and spirit (purple). Now the rainbow is a symbol of hope in the fight against COVID-19, to show support for our Essential Workers and spreading joy for children. While we have come a long way in the fight against HIV/AIDS, there is still much work to do. People still need care and support and we continually work to eliminate the stigma associated with being HIV Positive. This is why a Rainbow and why we still walk - with hope, determination and empowerment.
